Dr. Saad, a MKSAP 19 audio companion contributor, recalls an intriguing case that has helped think a different way to approach a frequent problem he sees in patients rather that what is normally described in medical textbooks. Dr. Saad's patient presents with fecal incontinence on an intermittent basis treated with loperamide. Watch and learn.

Richard J. Saad, MD, MS, FACG is a clinical gastroenterologist who has worked for Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan since completing his fellowship in Gastroenterology there in 2005. Dr. Saad plans to continue his work as a clinical gastroenterologist at the Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine while maintaining an adjunct appointment with Michigan Medicine as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Saad’s clinical and research interests include functional bowel and motility disorders. Dr. Saad has been a member of Gastroenterology and Hepatology MKSAP (medical knowledge self-assessment program) 17, 18 and 19 Committees for the American College of Physicians. Dr. Saad presently serves as a member of the American College of Gastroenterology’s Research Committee and was on the American College of Gastroenterology’s Governor’s Board representing his state of Michigan for 4 years.
