As of May 2014, a federal ruling requires that healthcare professionals performing physical exams on commercial motor vehicle drivers must have National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) certification. In order to receive certification, you must complete training and pass a federal certification test to meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) guidelines.
With an estimated 7 million to 14 million commercial drivers coupled with legislation requiring every state to track and electronically tie the medical exam to the Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the number of exams performed is expected to increase exponentially. Use this requirement to retain your position as a DOT examiner in your community or to expand your practice base as a certified DOT examiner.
NRCME Plus Online Training System® gives healthcare providers — MDs, DOs, DCs, NPs/APNs, and PAs — the knowledge to become a certified medical examiner and apply the FMCSA driver physical qualifications standards and guidelines. This training program is 100% online in a self-guided module format that is mobile device ready, does not require audio or flash, and is equipped with auto-save features to set your place if your training is interrupted.
NRCME Plus Online Training System® is the only NRCME training on the market that:
Additionally, NRCME Plus Online Training System® was developed by 1 of the 10 original consultants who convened in Washington, DC to develop the FMCSA guidelines. It's also worth noting that 95% of those who complete our training pass the certification test the first time.
NRCME Plus Online Training System is an online, modular program that meets and exceeds the core curriculum requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for DOT examiners.
NRCME Plus Online Training System can be completed in the comfort of your own home or office, on your schedule.
Training can be completed in about 12 hours.
Our NRCME program has over 1,000 slides and 27 training modules. Each module highlights one element of the FMCSA core curriculum.
Our program also includes access to our online resource library for conference guidelines, forms, waiver packets, and lists of federally prohibited medications for commercial drivers.
NRCME Plus Online Training System includes a pretest to evaluate basic pre-training competencies and a post-training test to see if you're ready for the formal exam. Every module has a post module quiz to test you on the most important concepts.
After completing our training, you will be issued a certificate that qualifies you to sit for the Federal Registry examination at select testing centers throughout the country.
Once all modules and this post-test have been completed, you will be awarded the certificate authorizing you to sit for the FMCSA Examination.
HCPs who establish themselves early may gain a competitive edge. HCPs who are among the first to become a certified medical examiner have the opportunity to command more business. Experience practice growth and expand patient bases ahead of others that will be offering this vital public service.
NRCME Plus Online Training System strives to serve the entire continuum of healthcare providers seeking training for medical examiner certification. We have been awarded accreditation in multiple provider categories including ACCME, AACC and PACE. Accreditation is included with training registration and there are no additional fees to claim credit.
